Statement in support of protecting Canadian science and researchers
The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) supports the efforts of the Government of Canada to secure and protect Canadian science and researchers. IQC takes the protection of intellectual property very seriously and commits to cooperate with various agencies and organizations in support of National Security priorities.
IQC also commits to, and will continue to, educate staff and researchers about the opportunities, pitfalls, and boundaries of protecting Canadian science and intellectual property for the benefit of IQC, the University of Waterloo, and indeed, future generations.

New refrigerator allows study of chemical reactions at quantum level
Researchers have discovered the first working refrigerator for cooling molecules to ultracold temperatures. These can be powerful candidates for running quantum computers and quantum simulators.
New research puts a spin on environmental defects
Magnetic fields are all around us – and even in us – all the time, and they often prove useful in technologies we rely on, like hard drives, MRI scanners and the power plants that provide us with electricity.
Building a better clock
The best clocks in the world can keep time so accurately that they only lose a second in millions or even billions of years. Yet researchers are still fervently pursuing even better clocks.
