TRELLIS upgrade on July 21

The Tri-University Group of Libraries (TUG) will be upgrading TRELLIS on Monday, July 21 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. This upgrade is required to improve Primo/TRELLIS interoperability and will dramatically improve the accessibility of TRELLIS.

You can test drive this upgrade now by visiting the new version of TRELLIS.

There may be brief interruptions in access to TRELLIS as we make the switch over to this new version. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Taking the Librarian out of the Library

In the spring 2013 term, Shannon Gordon, the University of Waterloo Library’s Pharmacy Liaison Librarian, was involved with a first year course at the School of Pharmacy. This marked an exciting new development and was a step forward in the involvement of librarians supporting information literacy in the classroom. Now, during the spring 2014 term, Shannon is co-instructing another course, and the opportunities to bring the Library even closer to students are growing.

Google Maps Historical Street View

Google Map’s Street View has always been an amazing feature. It provides photo coverage of more than six million miles of road. In the past, when Google finished updating the street view photos, they removed the old imagery. They recently discovered the value in those old Street View images due to the many user requests to view them again.

Introducing Jenny Hirst

Jenny Hirst

Jenny Hirst is the new Collections Maintenance Supervisor and Analyst located at the Davis Centre Library. In this role, she will be responsible for analyzing and writing reports to meet the maintenance needs of the libraries. This also involves ensuring the collections are in order and students have access to everything they need. Jenny also takes an active role within the staff as she is in charge of hiring, training, and supervising the casual staff at the Davis Centre Library.

Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership Fellows Program (LFP)

Associate University Librarians Annie Bélanger and Pascal Calarco are part of ARL's 2013-2015 LFP Program, an 18-month executive leadership fellowship designed and sponsored by ARL member libraries that helps develop future senior-level leaders in large research libraries. The University of Waterloo is a co-sponsoring library with the University of Guelph Library.
