Using songs of Gilles Binchois and John Bedyngham, with their associated parody Masses — and new adaptations of poetry by Christine de Pizan — this program tells a late-medieval transition story, which is also a story of the progress of love, both sacred and profane.

Presented by members of London's Magistera Soloists.

Soprano Rebecca McKay and pianist Jodie Van der Heide will present a selection of pieces by women composers. Some are well known such as Alma Mahler and other composers not so much, namely Katerina Gimon.  However, all will be delightful pieces.

Flutist Wendy Wagler, pianist Beth Ann de Sousa, and Cathy Anderson will present a selection of classical works.. 

Four different Instrumental Chamber Ensembles will play classical pieces, ranging from a Mozart piano quartet to a modern Jenni Brandon piece.

Violinist Jung Tsai, accompanied by pianist Anna Ronai, will perform works by Eugene Ysaye, Karol Szymanovski, and George Gershwin.

The trio of Annette Barbara Vogel (violin), Tom Landshoot (cello) and Mehdi Ghazi (piano) will perform Schoenfield's Cafe Music (hence the title) and Mendelssohn's Trio No. 1 in D minor.

Instrumental Chamber Ensemble students come from all six faculties, and play in chamber groups of three to four players.

The program primarily features art song and opera from the 19^th and 20^th centuries including a set of songs by the underappreciated 19^th century composer, Peter Cornelius. Originally scheduled for 2024, it has been rescheduled for January 15 at noon in the Grebel Chapel.

Every year since its inception, Magisterra Soloists has presented a concert honouring the victims of the Holocaust, highlighting how art has and will always be a valuable form of expression during times of hardship. Magisterra Soloists and Fellows will perform the music of Holocaust survivors.
