CAP Reception 2026

Every year, the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy hosts a special event for first and second-year Conditional Admission to Pharmacy (CAP) students where they have an opportunity to build connections with each other, pharmacy student ambassadors and the School. On Sep 23, 2026 first-year and second-year CAP students visited the School to participate in the annual CAP Reception.

The CAP program offers high school students a unique pathway to pharmacy. During the reception students gain insight into the program’s expectations and resources, including personalized academic advising, peer mentorship and interview preparation. First-year CAP students are paired with a second-year mentor to help them transition to university life and to share their experiences with.

"CAP, Conditional Admission to Pharmacy, is more than just a status; it’s a community," says Aya Sadik (CAP2026). "The CAP reception was a room full of hardworking students who are all passionate about pharmacy. It’s an important event to bring together all the students that are spread across 3 different programs and provides an opportunity to meet our peers for the next 6 years, introducing students to their entire support system. The CAP program has impacted me greatly, as it feels like I am one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a pharmacist, feeling almost like a guarantee and a reward for hard work."

The second half of the evening featured informal networking with pharmacy student ambassadors, who answered questions and led students on a tour of the building – offering a glimpse into their future. An ice breaker activity helped students build relationships and a sense of community early in their pharmacy journey.
