MyPharmacist team wins 2024 Velocity Pitch Competition

Waterloo Pharmacy students take home $5,000 Velocity grant

University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy students and co-founders of MyPharmacist, Brian Hui (Rx2025), Musab Iqbal (Rx2025) and Aram Mohammadi (Rx2025), were one of four finalist teams to take home the Velocity $5,000 grant to help bring MyPharmacist to life. The team pitched their business startup idea to a live audience and judges, alongside eight other teams.

During their co-op work terms Brian, Musab and Aram noticed that while completing MedsCheck reviews, one-on-one consultations between a patient and pharmacist to review their medications, that patients with more complex situations were missed more often.

Their solution, MyPharmacist, utilizes AI to transcribe information gathered during MedsChecks reviews to provide the pharmacist with suggestive talking points to further discuss with the patient to eliminate manual processes, save time and ultimately deliver better care.

The team also won the 2024 Pharmasave Business Competition and presented MyPharmacist at the University of Waterloo new regional hospital announcement event where local politicians and leaders learned about innovative ideas from the University of Waterloo community.

Congratulations Brian, Musab and Aram!
