Pharmacy Appreciation Month 2025: PharmacistsCAN

Join us in celebrating our pharmacy teams during Pharmacy Appreciation Month (PAM) with the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) this March.

CPhA hosts the national campaign to shine a spotlight on pharmacy every year and Canadians coast to coast celebrate the important contributions that pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy students have made to the health of their patients.

This year’s CPhA theme, PharmacistsCAN: A national benchmark for pharmacy practice, focuses on the incredible contributions of Canada’s pharmacy professionals and their work. This theme is designed to inform governments and the public about the full scope of pharmacists’ education and capabilities.

Our Waterloo School of Pharmacy Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI) have set up many events throughout the month to bring awareness to the future of pharmacy and the profession through their theme "Beyond the Counter", to reflect on how pharmacists are making a meaningful impact beyond traditional roles.

"Pharmacists are stepping into diverse and evolving positions far beyond dispensing medications. They are actively contributing in clinical-focused practice, hospitals, research, technology, family health teams, pharmacy-led clinics, regulatory roles, education, the pharmaceutical industry, and public health. As highly trained healthcare professionals, pharmacists are shaping the future of healthcare and driving innovation in patient care," says Qamar Mobayed (Rx2026, PAM 2025 chair).

The range of events and initiatives organized by our students include a kickoff event at the School, a booth feature for International Women’s Day, lunch and learns, networking opportunities and interprofessional education sessions for students, a booth at the Conestoga Mall Showcase and more.

Take a moment this month to thank your pharmacist, pharmacy technician and pharmacy student.
