Prescription for success

Leaving your comfort zone and making the most of your co-op options

Jason Tsang (Rx2025) is a fourth-year Pharmacy student. He reflects on his co-op work terms during his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy.

Jason’s first two co-op work terms were at Shoppers Drug Mart as a strategy and stakeholder co-ordinator. During his third work term he worked at Scarborough Health Network and as a product development analyst at MediResource during his fourth term. His experience working in the outpatient oncology department at North York General Hospital as a pharmacy student helped him further grow his clinical skills.

“It's great that the pharmacy program has a very tight-knit connection between classmates, even within the different cohorts," says Jason. "That means you can easily connect with people who have already done the position you are applying for. People are happy to chat about how the position was and whether they would recommend it.”
