Supporting our community

University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy serves as rest stop for the 2026 Coldest Night of the Year walk

With record snow and very cold temperatures this winter, the Ray of Hope Community Centre once again hosted their annual Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk to raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger. The University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy opened its doors again on February 28, 2026 in support as a rest stop.

This year Kitchener CNOY chapter surpassed their goal by 110%, raising $248,541 with 700 walkers. Across Canada, the event raised $14,985,624 across 222 locations.

Waterloo Pharmacy is proud to continue to host a halfway rest spot at the School in the heart of downtown Kitchener for the event. Volunteers provide walkers participating with a rest stop, warm beverages and snacks while pharmacy staff and student ambassadors connect with the local community members, cheering them on to keep walking.

This year our Waterloo Pharmacy staff, students and friends participated as walkers. Our Pharmacy Phamily team raised $900 for the Kitchener chapter. The walk aims is to bring awareness to the hardships people experience from homelessness and poverty with the increased homelessness population in Kitchener.

Since 2011, CNOY has raised over $75,000,000 across 190 communities in Canada. All net proceeds support the local communities in which they were raised.

Waterloo Pharmacy continues this tradition yearly, providing support to this great cause.
