Professional Development Week (PDW) is an annual pharmacy student run conference in partnership with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI), exclusive to CAPSI members. This year on January 3-6, 2024, 23 Waterloo delegates attended the conference held in Toronto, ON.
Delegates from across Canada travelled to one location to grow professionally by attending educational sessions, participating in national competitions and networking.
There were many opportunities to expand clinical knowledge and make connections. Delegates attended keynote speaker series on Music Therapy to Indigenous Health and had the opportunity to select from a variety of breakout sessions. Building a personal network was provided at the Health Fair where delegates networked with representatives from with variety of pharmacy sectors, product developers and corporations.

Waterloo students brought home seven total awards from the conference including the first place Award of Professionalism for executing the best Pharmacy Appreciation Month in 2023. See the full list of winners below and help us congratulate our Waterloo CAPSI team!
- CPhA - Award of Professionalism (for Pharmacy Appreciation Month 2023) - 1st place ($750): Victoria Mikhnovskaya (Rx2024) and Bhawani Jain (Rx2024) our Co-PAM Chairs
- Apotex - IPSF Health Campaign Award (For IPSF Health Week 2023) - 2nd place ($150): Lindsay Zhao (Rx2025) and Sydney Eng (Rx2026) our local CAPSI IPSF Representatives
- Medisca - National Compounding Competition – 3rd place (4 x $100): Sophia Leakos (Rx2026) Zoe Grasse (Rx2026), Anchanah Jeyamohan (Rx2026), Ilinca Andriescu (Rx2026)
- Pharmachoice - Advice for Life (AFL) Competition - 1st place ($750): Selina Cao (Rx2025)
- CPhA - Student Literary Competition (SLC) - 4th place ($200): Mahnoor Shah (Rx2026)
- CFP Future of Pharmacy Excellence Award ($100): Kia Moazzami (Rx2024)
- CAPSI/CFP - Guy Genest Passion for Pharmacy Award ($500): Stephanie Lo (Rx2024)
Thank you to our Waterloo CAPSI team for organizing student events, PAM and so much more every year. CAPSI members are looking forward to attending PDW 2025 which will be hosted in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
