Welcome class of Rx2029 and graduate students
On January 5, 2026 the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy welcomed its newest cohort of PharmD students, the class of Rx2029, and the newest graduate students. The new PharmD class spent the morning attending orientation where students heard all about the School’s history, the pharmacy profession and what their future at Waterloo Pharmacy holds.
The Waterloo Pharmacy PharmD program takes students beyond the prescription and amplifies their confidence in providing exceptional patient care. Students get to experience on average more than 30 weeks of pharmacy experience compared to other pharmacy programs in Canada, a total of 72 weeks of work-integrated learning by graduation. In 3.6 years, with three competitively paid co-op placements, our newest cohort after their time at Waterloo Pharmacy will be practice-ready pharmacists who meet or exceed professional standards.
We also welcomed our newest graduate students starting Winter 2025 who spent the morning touring the School and attending their orientation:
- PhD students Debora Freitas Silva and Mehraveh Hosseinali (returning after completing her MSc at the School)
- MSc students Adrianna Dingle, Layla Halwagi, Joseph Puorizuma and Yilong Zhang
We’d also like to welcome graduate students that joined us Spring 2025:
- PhD students Thaddeus Harrison Gugu and Yichi Yin
- MSc students Morgan Cardno and Cherry Chan
As well as graduate students who joined us back in Fall 2025:
- PhD students Adam Falah, Milena Lima, Kaidy Orellana (returning after completing her MSc at the School) and Jennifer Park
- MSc students Lexi Bastone, Emma Bondar, Katherine Chen and Mohamed El-Rayani
Welcome to Waterloo Pharmacy! We’re excited to begin your pharmacy journey with you. Together, we’ll create meaningful impact in healthcare and beyond.
