Josephine joined the School of Pharmacy at the end of 2008 as the Pharmaceutics Course/Lab instructor. Before that she was the Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Lab Instructor for 4 years in the Department of Chemistry, also at the University of Waterloo. In this position she was responsible for six undergraduate Organic Chemistry lab courses per year. Josephine holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (1999) and specialization in Industrial Pharmacy (2000) both from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and a Masters of Science degree in Organic Chemistry (2004) from the University of Waterloo. In her current position at the School of Pharmacy, Josephine is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the laboratory components of the Pharmaceutics I and II courses and she is the coordinator and instructor in the Advanced Compounding elective course. She has extensive experience in non-sterile extemporaneous compounding and dosage form design, physical pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology.
