How do I complete a bursary application?

The Bursary Application form in Quest is only to be used by full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident.

  1. Sign in to Quest.
  2. Select the Financial Aid tile.

  3. Select the Bursary Application link from the left.

  4. The application form will open. Read all the questions, provide answers where applicable (preferably in order), and watch for new questions to pop up based on answers provided. Use the links to see some helpful tips for each section of the form:
  5. When complete, at the end of the form, select Submit. If any required fields have been missed, they will be flagged in red.
  6. The Confirm Application page will display. Read all the statements, add a checkmark in the box next to the "By clicking submit, I am agreeing to the above declaration" statement. Then select Submit, or Cancel to go back to make a change.
  7. If you made a mistake or need to update any information on the application you are able to resubmit your application. Please note, you are able to resubmit it only once.

Note: For any file upload fields, the maximum file size accepted is 4MB, and accepted file types are: BMP, DOC, DOCX, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF, PNG, TIFF, TXT.

Bursary Applications section

  • Indicate for which terms you are submitting an application. Normally, these should match your OSAP application terms (if applicable). For example, if you applied for fall and winter OSAP, select fall and winter bursary applications.

Financial Aid Applications section

  • Use the Question mark icon for more details. icon to learn more about the Indigenous Student Bursary and the Ontario First Generation Bursary options.
  • If a document needs to be uploaded, select Upload, Choose File, find the document on your device, select Open then Upload.

Specific Named Bursary section

  • Optional, if applicable.
  • Only available for undergraduate students; use the Undergraduate Awards Database to find the name of the specific bursaries.
  • In the field, separate bursary names with a comma (,), to a maximum of 250 characters.

Your Personal Information section

  • Use the Question mark icon for more details. icon to see marital status definitions.
  • Once your marital status has been selected, additional questions will be shown.

Your Financial Information section

  • Complete the requested information about your Prestudy Period, your Study Period, Assets, and Other Income.

Income from other people, depending on OSAP application and Marital Status selected

  1. Parental Information and Parental Income section (if Marital Status = Single).
    • Use the Question mark icon for more details. icon to see definitions of parents and dependents.
    • Will only display if we don't already have this information on file via an OSAP application (or equivalent).

    • Note: If either a crown ward or both parents are deceased, an email will be sent after submission detailing additional information required to process the application.
  2. Spousal Income section (if Marital Status = Married/Common-Law).

Exceptional Expenses section

  • If a document needs to be uploaded, select Upload, Choose File, find the document on your device, select Open then Upload.

Bursaries Based on Extra-Curricular Activities section

  • Optional, only if applicable.

Additional Comments section

  • Optional, only if applicable.
  • If you answered "No" to the first two questions in the Financial Aid Applications section, explain the reasons for not applying to OSAP or another province's student assistance plan in the additional comments box.

Bursary Assessment Timing section

  • Optional, only if applicable.
  • Check this box if you need your full-time bursary application reviewed before the term begins in order to add the expected financial aid to your promissory note in Quest. This is needed in order to become "Fees Arranged". Otherwise, it will be processed during the normal time-frame after the term begins.

Confirm Application

  • You must check off this box in order to successfully submit the form.

Resubmit Application

  • If you made a mistake or need to update your submitted application for the term you are able to resubmit your application. This can only be done once.
  • After following the steps listed above to access the Bursary Application in Quest, you will see the section below. Select all the reasons that apply for resubmitting your application.

  • You will then be required to complete the entire application again. Refer to steps above if you require assistance with completing the application.
