Join Us at the Waterloo RoboHub Fall Symposium

Join us on campus on November 12th for our next symposium: an interdisciplinary event where thought leaders from across the private and public sectors will come together to discuss and learn about both current and future applications of robotics and related technologies in the field of health and wellbeing.

The day will include talks and panels from experts in diverse fields with critical insights into the combination of health and robotics, as well as exhibitors and lightning talks from across the robotics community.

Click the button below to jump to our registration form at the end of the page, or feel free to continue scrolling to learn more about our agenda, keynote speakers, lightning talk presenters, and exhibitors.

Symposium Agenda

0830 - 0900: Registration and Breakfast

A registration table will be set up on the 7th floor of Engineering 7 starting at 0830, where you can pick up your badge and get directions if/as needed.

A light continental breakfast will also be provided during this registration period before we start the first talk of the day.

0900 - 1000: Lightning Talks by RoboHub's Research Members

1000 - 1100: Expert Panel on Social Robotics and Human-Robot/Human-Computer Interaction

Our panel of experts in social robotics, human-robot interaction, and human-computer interaction will discuss the impact that they believe robotics and related technologies will have on health and healthcare over the coming 5 - 10 years. This panel session will also include an audience Q&A section, where you will have the chance to ask our experts your own questions to dig deeper into this evolving field.

1100 - 1115: Special Announcement

There will be a special announcement just before we break for lunch.

1115 - 1300: Networking Lunch and Exhibition

Over this extended networking break, a wandering lunch will be provided for our attendees on the seventh floor of Engineering 7, which can be enjoyed in the Faculty Hall where our talks take place, on the second floor at the exhibition, or elsewhere as desired.

While eating this lunch, attendees will also get the opportunity to talk to their fellow attendees, RoboHub partners and members with exhibition booths, and students who will be demonstrating their projects in the field of robotics.

1300 - 1400: Expert Panel on Robot-Facilitated Surgery, Rehabilitation, and Diagnostics

Our panel of experts in surgical robotics, assistive robotics, and diagnostic robotics will discuss the impact that they believe robotics and related technologies will have on health and healthcare over the coming 5 - 10 years. This panel session will also include an audience Q&A section, where you will have the chance to ask our experts your own questions to dig deeper into this evolving field.

1400 - 1500: Lightning Talks by RoboHub's Professional Partners

This session will consist of lightning talks by movers and shakers at various organizations that are part of the RoboHub Professional Partnership Program.

This includes speakers from ArenaX Labs, CENGN, OCI, Mitacs, and Rockwell Automation.

1500-1630: Networking and Exhibition

To wrap up the day, participants will get another opportunity to talk to their fellow attendees, RoboHub partners and members with exhibition booths, and students who will be demonstrating their projects in the field of robotics.

Speakers and Panelists

The talks and panels held throughout the day will include experts from across academia and industry who are working at the intersection of robotics and healthcare.

They will discuss and respond to questions related to the potential impact of robotics and related technologies on health and healthcare over the next 5-10 years.

Lightning Talks

Throughout the day, we will have "Lightning Talks" sessions presented by thought leaders in the field drawn from our professional partnership program, industrial collaborators, and on-campus researchers.

These talks will provide an avenue for speakers to talk about their organizations, labs, and technologies, as well as sharing what they see as the impact of robotics and related technologies on health and healthcare over the next 5 - 10 years.

These talks aim to introduce these organizations and speakers to the broader RoboHub community and to plant seeds for potential collaborations.

Exhibitors

As part of the symposium, some members of our Research Team and organizations taking part in our Professional Partnership Program will have booths set up where you can talk to experts across our community, learn what their labs and organizations are all about, and see some exciting demos of robots, sensors, and other technology.

Throughout the day, you will have several opportunities to network with our members and partners without missing any of our talks, including during the extended networking break over lunch and after the last talk of the day.
