Avery Sudsbury, a 4th year Environment and Business student, is Co-op's Student of the Year for the Faculty of Environment.
School of Environment Enterprise and Development (SEED) professor emeritus, Frances Westley, received one of the highest honours in Canada for her work in social innovation. This honour was initially bestowed in January 2021 but, due to COVID-19, was only just presented at the investiture ceremony on February 22, 2024 at Rideau Hall.
SUSM PhD student Ankesh Siddhantakar is receiving a high level of interest regarding his research on the sustainability of helium resource. Ankesh has been utilizing tools in sustainability management, specifically industrial ecology, to analyze environmental and resource aspects of the noble gas.
Prioritizing the Environment in Urban Sustainability Planning, co-authored by Dr. Natasha Tang Kai, a PhD graduate from the School of Planning, and Dr. Larry Swatuk in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development.
Universities Canada just announced the 2023 IDRC International Doctoral Research Awards recipients and Navya Nair is one of the 25 recipients. Navya is also the only recipient from the University of Waterloo.
Researchers at the University of Waterloo studied 38 municipalities in Ontario, representing more than two-thirds of the population, and discovered that almost all municipalities publish their sustainability and climate change goals, but under half are formally reporting on their progress.
Dr. Amelia Clarke has been working on environment and sustainability issues for decades. She is currently a professor in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED).
