Hi! I’m Jaiden, an upper-year student in the Sustainability and Financial Management Program (SFM). When I first applied to SFM in grade 12, I was super excited, but a bit nervous. It was a brand-new program, and although I knew I would love my classes, I wondered how potential employers might react to this new degree offering.
Now a year into the program, I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Over the past year, it has been really cool to see the opportunities that are becoming available to SFM students. This program is unique in that it provides an education that is in high demand in the industry, and the level of integration between sustainability and finance is not really available anywhere else across Canada.
Thanks to the education I am receiving in the SFM program, I was able to complete an internship with Deloitte in the summer after my first year at the University of Waterloo. Through the people I met at during that experience, I also had the amazing opportunity to talk with Global News about the SFM Program and how I was able to apply my education to the internship.
These were incredible experiences that really cemented my belief that I am in the right space to be at the forefront of sustainable finance. I love having the chance to speak about the SFM program, and I can’t wait to see the opportunities for everyone as we continue to move through our education!
