Some of you may already know, which is great! But if you’re like me and still have no idea, that’s fine too! Even after being named to the Common Final Examination (CFE) Honour Roll, I am still not 100% sure what my professional career is going to look like. I have a general idea of course, but nothing is concrete. The possibilities are almost endless.
During my undergraduate years at the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF), is where I think my ‘endless possibilities’ mindset flourished. SAF has always emphasized the importance of extracurriculars and assisted with our participation in them. This allowed me to join activities that helped me further develop my leadership and teamwork skills outside of class, meet amazing people, as well as discover new interests that helped alleviate stress.
These extracurricular opportunities were vital in developing skills and social connections and ultimately allowed me to build support networks even after university. I have just begun my career and I am looking forward to exploring the different opportunities that the accounting field has to offer.
So far, based on my interactions with businesses in my current role at PwC as Senior Associate, I am particularly interested in financial reporting. Once I do pick a path, I aim to work tirelessly to excel in my roles. I aspire to obtain as much knowledge as possible and to reach a point in the future where I will be able to share my experiences with students and new graduates to help them figure out what they want to do in the field. I really do believe achieving the CFE Honour Roll will help me with future career prospects and opportunities, in whatever I choose to do.
