Using time management as a tool

Hi! My name is Aline, and I am a second-year student in the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) program.

I still remember being extremely excited but at the same time extremely nervous for my first year of university. Before classes started, I set up my account on the school’s website and found out about Waterloo Ready.

Waterloo Ready was a great way to learn more about the SAF community, the resources available, and some great first-year tips to ease my nerves. My favourite takeaway from the course was the content regarding online learning and time management, because managing my time effectively was key to my success in first year. I found that staying organized (with the help of the schedule templates available on Waterloo Ready and the Student Success Office) helped me perform better throughout the term.

I also learned about the Pomodoro time-management method among many other techniques that helped me stay motivated and properly allocate my energy so I would not burn out. I was able to get involved in the community and still achieve a great academic standing, all while making time for family pandemic walks. The best part is I still use everything I learned to this day! Waterloo Ready provided me with skills that will prove useful for the rest of my life.
