In
2007,
David
Carter,
a
retired
faculty
member,
launched
a
community
service
initiative
that
enabled
MAcc
students
to
participate
in
a
Financial
Statement
Review
Team.
The
student
team,
under
his
selection,
volunteered
their
expertise
in
analyzing
financial
statements
for
funding
proposals
submitted
to
the
Kitchener-Waterloo
Community
Foundation
and
the
Lyle
S.
Hallman
Foundation.
The
reviews
were
used
by
the
granting
committees
to
assist
in
their
grant
selection
process.

Team
“The
students
provided
a
consistent,
professional
assessment
of
all
the
financials
received,”
adds
Linda
Zensner,
grant
services
manager
for
the
K-W
Community
Foundation,
“and
the
information
they
provided
[was]
an
integral
part
of
the
overall
evaluation
of
a
grant
application,"
said
Hulene
Montgomery,
executive
director
of
the
Hallman
Foundation.
In
it's
tenth
year,
students
are
still
working
closely
with
industry
professionals
as
Donna
Psutka,
Director
of
the
AFM
program
oversees
the
process.
