Faculty Research Stories

OBJECTIVE:  To put into action SAF's strategic theme of Scholarship Excellence and build SAF's reputation in thought leadership.

GOAL: Tell research stories that are engaging and appealing to a broad audience that demonstrate how the research impacts and/or influences our community and/or the professions.

SUBMISSION AND STORY WRITING: The details you submit do not need to be polished nor in sentence form. Point form is acceptable. The Communications team will use the content submitted to draft your research story. A draft will be sent to you for review and sign off before your story is published.

HOW WE'LL BE PROMOTING YOUR RESEARCH STORY:

  1. Research stories will be published and promoted through the SAF website (homepage, News, Research Stories, Thought Leadership).
  2. Stories will be pitched to Waterloo's Media Relations for potential development and distribution of a Media Advisory/Release.
  3. Stories will be pitched to Waterloo's University Relations for potential promotional through Waterloo Stories and Waterloo's homepage.

WRITING TIPS to help you draft your research description to be engaging for a general public. 

Name of your research paper
Provide names, titles, and university affiliations of your co-authors, if any.
Research Publication Date
OPTION #2: Describe what you would like the general public to know about your research paper. Maximum 300 words. Please DO NOT copy and paste your Abstract.
Describe how your research paper impacts and/or influences our community. Answer the question of why should the general public care? Maximum 300 words. Please DO NOT copy and paste your Abstract.
Explain how your research paper is relevant to influencing/changing the professions. Answers the question of why was the research paper written. Please DO NOT copy and paste your Abstract.
Upload your research abstract to provide additional information for the Communications team to draft your research story.
