Brief biography

Shari is an Assistant Professor - Teaching Stream at the School of Accounting and Finance, in the corporate reporting area. Over the past few years, her teaching has focussed on student development of and application of both technical information and soft skills using cases, covering all competency areas, in the Masters of Accounting (MAcc) program.

Shari’s activities include the preparation and presentation of numerous professional development courses in financial accounting and assurance and involvement as a session leader for the profession’s Professional Education Program (PEP) and its predecessor, the CPA Ontario School of Accountancy. Shari is the author of Guide to Preparing Financial Statements (Carswell), The Guide to Review and Compilation Engagements (Carswell) and Compilation Engagements: A Guide. Complementary activities include the provision of professional services to small and medium-sized accounting firms. Prior experience includes over ten years in public practice, both in Canada and New Zealand, and included responsibility for staff training, standards and quality control at a national firm.

Her volunteer experience includes serving as a member of the Small Practitioner Working Group (SPWG) (advisory committee to the Accounting Standards Board), in addition to serving as a Treasurer for local not-for-profit organizations. Prior to serving on the SPWG, Shari served on the Private Enterprise Advisory Committee for two terms.
