Master of Actuarial Science | Accreditation pathways


Canadian Institute of Actuaries

Students can receive their ACIA designation by following the "Pathway 1" timeline. This can be completed in as little as 5 months from graduation. 

Step 1.

Successfully complete the MActSc program 

Step 2.

Complete ACIA Modules 1 and 2. This can be done in your third term

Step 3.

Pass the ACIA Capstone exam after degree completion

Step 4.

Complete CIA Professionalism Workshop


Casualty Actuary Society

Students interested in becoming credentialed property and casualty actuaries can follow the "CAS Path to Success". Travel time to becoming an Associate of the CAS can be as little as 16 months from graduation. 

Step 1.

Successfully complete the program and receive exemptions for the following exams: VEEs, Exam 1, Exam 2, MAS-I

Step 2.

Complete the three Data and Insurance Series Courses. Could be completed during the third term

Step 3.

Write the three remaining exams: MAS-II, Exams 5 & 6

Step 4.

Complete the Course on Professionalism (virtual or in person)


Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Those interested in working in the UK, Australia, India, Israel, or South Africa can become accredited with the IFoA by following "Route A". This can be completed within 24 months of graduating. 

Step 1.

Successfully complete the program with an overall average of 75% to receive exemptions from the following exams: CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1, CB2, CP1, CP2, CP3

Step 2.

Complete the online Professional Skills courses 1 and 2

Step 3.

Write the CB3 exam (Business Management)

Step 4.

Complete 24 months of Personal Professional Development


Society of Actuaries

After receiving your IFoA exemptions you can become an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) by completing the following steps. 


 

Step 1.

Apply for and receive your IFoA exam exemptions to qualify for the following SOA exam exemptions: VEEs (AF, Econ, MS), P, FM, FAM, ALTAM, ASTAM

Step 2.

Complete the PAF and ASF e-learnings

Step 3.

Write the SRM and PA exams and complete the FAP and ATPA e-learnings

Step 4.

Attend the Associateship Professionalism Course
