If you have an item to repair, and would like to have someone skilled help you repair it, then sign up for a FREE ticket for Wednesday November 15, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, at the University of Waterloo, Engineering 7, Room 1401.
If you sign up in Eventbrite we know what items you are bringing and how many repairers we'll need. However, we also accept walk-ins without tickets, time permitting. Repairs typically take between 15 and 30 minutes.
Events vary in repair types (depending on our volunteer repairers), but typical repairs include:
Small household electrical/appliances 120 volts, and small enough that you can carry it (e.g. hair dryer, kettle, lamp). We can also fix other small items such as yard tools, housewares, umbrellas, and gadgets. No large TVs , microwaves, or dehumidifiers. Please make sure items are clean.
Electronics We will diagnose electronics problems and determine whether an item can be repaired. No large TVs , microwaves, or dehumidifiers.
Sewing Machines We clean and lubricate sewing machines. No sewing machine tables.
Sewing/mending Torn trousers or ripped jeans, small holes, missing buttons, jackets needing patches ... whatever it is, bring it clean. No alterations or pant hems.
Jewelry Ring troubles? Broken clasp? Beads gone bad? If you have a few jewelry pieces in need of repair, we may have time to fix more than one, depending on the repair.
Leatherwork Leather hand-stitching (e.g. wallet, purse, gloves, jacket, etc).
DIY repair station Try your hand at sewing, glueing the sole on your shoe, shoe stretching, straightening a ring, knife sharpening, and more. No need to sign up for the DIY station.
