Today, the University of Waterloo released its 2015 Environmental Sustainability Report. This year's report focuses on case studies and progress in academics, operations, and engagement.
- Over 500 courses related to environmental sustainability
- A 21% decrease in water usage per square metre since 2010
- An 11% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per square metre since 2010
- A 20% increase in Fairtrade certified hot beverage purchases
In light of growing local, national, and international momentum over the past year, these are positive results, but there is much more work to be done.
Please read this report and consider how you can better integrate sustainability into your role, department or academic unit, and our campus life more broadly.
