The Sustainability Leadership Certificate is a co-curricular certificate offered by the University of Waterloo as a way to recognize and encourage students in their sustainability efforts. The certificate enhances resumes, provides opportunities for professional growth, and strengthens green skills. 

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for seven new campus sustainability projects in fall 2025, with a mix of student, staff, and faculty-led projects. From workshops and app-based waste sorting to bird-friendly window decals and invasive species management, innovative ideas are driving campus sustainability forward at Waterloo.

The month of June marks Bike Month in Waterloo Region each year. Individuals and organizations throughout the Region are challenged by TravelWise to hop on their bikes in celebration of active and sustainable transportation.

Bike Month 2018 at UWaterloo

June was Bike Month across Waterloo Region! In partnership with TravelWise, the Sustainability Office challenged employees and students to participate in events and challenges throughout the month to promote the use of active transportation to campus and celebrate those who have committed to cycling.

Students across the Region attended the Waterloo-Wellington Science and Engineering Fair (WWSEF) yesterday, an annual event that brings together young scientific minds in the region to compete and participate in exciting activities. As part of the event, over 200 students participated in the Energize: Sustainable City Challenge, a tool for students to improve their energy literacy, understand the complexity of climate change and decision-making for climate targets, and gain resources to become sustainability champions in Waterloo Region.
