Alison Baird

Communications & Outreach Assistant

Alison (any pronouns) assists with the Sustainability Office’s programs and platforms to communicate sustainability actions and build engagement with stakeholders. She supports the delivery and implementation of the Green Residence Ambassador, Green Office, and Green Labs programs. This winter and spring she will assist with the logistics of Earth Month, BioBlitz, the Free Store, and more. In addition, Alison creates and distributes content for the newsletter and social media platforms.

Alison is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Gender and Social Justice at the University of Waterloo. They hope to be able to bring that working understanding of social justice to all of the workplaces and academic spaces they occupy but do not yet have a "dream job".

Alison brings experience from the University of Waterloo’s Women in Computer Science (WiCS) organization where zhe worked as an Event Coordinator and Communications Co-op. Here she helped to organize various events aiming to reduce gender inequity in both the academic and professional worlds of computer science.

Alison remains active in University of Waterloo community networks relating to social justice and sustainability, including:

  • Gender and Social Justice Society (GSJS)
  • Climate Justice Initiatives (CJI)
