Events

Students, faculty, staff and alumni are welcome to watch the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC) 2019 competition events. Various competitions in design, consulting, presentation and debate will take place throughout E7 from Friday, March 1 until Sunday, March 3.

Biomedical Engineering's Capstone Design Symposium will showcase the latest biomedical innovations from final year Engineering students. Students will present and discuss their research from 1:00pm to 4:00pm with visual aids and tactile materials or prototypes to illustrate their research.

Systems Design Engineering's Capstone Design Symposium will feature 19 uniquely ingenious projects including an application to help students find compatible roommates and a device that evaluates  posture while exercising.

Have you ever wanted to join a hackathon, but thought it was only for coders? Well, Hack the Plastics wants you! Hack the Plastics is a broad skilled hackathon that does not require a coding based final product and will happen from 28th Feb – 1st March, 2020 at the University of Waterloo. You will be tackling ways to fight single use plastic pollution using microbes and producing a technical solution, business plan, and pitch.

The Post-COVID-19 Reboot is a weekly webinar series hosted by the University of Waterloo GEDI that brings together research experts and representatives from some of Canada’s leading corporations and startups to discuss strategies for emerging from the pandemic and adapting to this “new normal.” Join us on June 18 for "Rebooting with Research: Viral detection and mitigation". This third and final research-focused webinar considers what our virtual future may look like. We will need to improve productivity with better design and automation, make telecommuting more effective and apply to more job roles, learn new ways of managing a dispersed workforce, all while ensuring we remain connected to and engaged with colleagues, employers, families, and friends.
