Stakeholders inspire Capstone Design projects

Final‑year students in Systems Design Engineering and Biomedical Engineering turned real‑world challenges into innovative Capstone Design projects, thanks to close collaboration with industry and community stakeholders.

Throughout their design process, students consulted with clinicians, tech companies, municipal partners, people with lived experience, and more to identify pressing problems and co‑design practical solutions. These partnerships have shaped everything from early brainstorming to prototype testing, giving students a rare opportunity to apply engineering principles in authentic, high‑impact contexts.

The stakeholder‑driven model not only strengthens technical design skills but also builds empathy, communication, and systems thinking. Working with real users pushed projects beyond theoretical exercises and toward meaningful, implementable outcomes.
