Trouble shooting for Quest log in issues

Thursday, May 16, 2024

If you are having issues logging in to Quest and seeing either a "username/password is invalid" error or “Bad Request – Header Field Too Long HTTP Error 400” message but can still log into other services such as WatIAM, Learn or Outlook you will need to fully clear your browsing data. We've included some helpful instructions below, based on your browser of choice.

Please note that these instructions should be completed with no active browser windows that are on any uwaterloo.ca affiliated websites.

Google Chrome

  • In the top right corner of your browser, there will be three vertical dots. Click on these dots and select “clear browsing data.”
  • In the next window prompt, select "All time" in the Time range drop-down and ensure the browsing history, cookies and other site data, and cached images and files are all selected.
  • Press clear data.
  • Close and re-open Chrome and try to access Quest from uwaterloo.ca/quest.

Microsoft Edge

  • In the top right corner of your browser, click on the three horizontal dots and choose “settings” from the drop-down menu.
  • From the Settings window, choose Privacy, search and services.
  • From the Clear browsing data subheading, click on the “choose what to clear” button.
  • In the Clear browsing data window, ensure that the Time range selected in the drop-down is “All time” and that Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files are selected. Then click clear now.
  • Close and re-open Edge and try to access Quest from uwaterloo.ca/quest.
