What’s happening with the WCMS?

WCMS 3 updates

10 more sites have launched in the new WCMS 3! Continue to check out the growing list on our Web Resources sites and templates page to see some of the new features and design offered in WCMS 3!

WCMS 3 site launches

WCMS 3 Fundamentals course

The Waterloo Content Management System (WCMS) 3 training course, WCMS 3 Fundamentals, is now available!

  • Self-registration in LEARN is now open
  • Please allow for up to one business day following your registration to allow for the creation of your individual training site
  • Training sites will be provisioned for a period of four months following their creation, if you still require your site beyond that please contact the Training and Support team as the end date nears
  • Training (and how-to documents) will be continually updated as features are added to WCMS 3

WCMS 3 migration update

  • We just received the latest set of bug fixes from EW on Monday and are planning on completing QA by the middle of next week
  • We are also prepping “remediation training” to help those who are interested and willing, and whose sites make sense to run through the current version of the migration scripts
  • We are aiming to reopen migration form we’ve temporarily closed, and have “remediation training” ready towards the end of the month

IST co-op rebuild opportunities in WCMS 3

Are you interested in having a co-op student rebuild an existing WCMS 2 site in WCMS 3? We would like to continue to identify "simple" WCMS 2 sites that the co-ops can use as examples to get more hands-on experience with WCMS 3 and assist with the migration process. "Simple" sites in this case would constitute sites:

  • That are stock "FDSU" theme in WCMS 2, with no custom modules installed and are not behind authentication; and
  • That have 30 pages or less in total

The website lead can submit sites that fit our criteria for a "simple" site by completing the Request a new WCMS 3 site web form and selecting the "Manual migration of existing WCMS site by WCMS co-ops" option. Please review the release comparison information to ensure current functionality is supported in WCMS 3.

Drop-in lab

Have a question, or need some help with your website? A virtual Drop-in lab will be open every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. to provide WCMS content maintainers one-on-one website and training support. Please reach out to Charlotte Armstrong, via email or Microsoft Teams, to schedule an appointment.
