Biography

Visit John C. Semple's web site on asters, goldenasters, and goldenrods: https://uwaterloo.ca/astereae-lab/.

The site summarizes five decades of research done by JCS, his graduate students, and a small army of enthusiastic undergraduate volunteers and senior honours project students at the University of Waterloo. Their work focused on the evolution and classification of Asters, Goldenasters and Goldenrods (Fam. Compositae) and phylogeny of the Tribe Astereae. Phytogeography, multivariate morphometrics, cytotaxonomy and chemosystematics used to resolve evolutionary histories. Cytogeography of polyploids.
