2017 Girls Conference Participants Group Photo

Welcome to May!

We closed out April and the Winter term with our annual Gr. 11 Girls Conference hosted here at UWaterloo Main campus.  28 delegates and 6 ambassadors joined together to participate in workshops, complete a design challenge, experience student life on campus and live in residence over 3 days.  The girls came from as far away as Halifax and Montreal and soaked up an experience filled with collaboration, critical thinking, individual reflection and next steps to plan for and work towards a future as an engineering undergraduate student.  Highlights included a visit to CTRL V for a virtual reality experience, hands-on workshops in the engineering machine shop building keychains and problem-solving during the design challenge.  Special thanks to Dr. Mary Wells and admissions specialist Ryan Pyear for coming to speak to the group about how to prepare for the step out of high school and into a post-secondary Engineering or STEM program.  We were glad to have each of the girls join us for a weekend that continues to inspire and encourage each year.  We’re blown away by the ingenuity, curiosity and determination that they each had.

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you join Waterloo Engineering next year!

Enjoy a quick highlight from the 2017 conference.
