Problem area
Seniors and individuals with tremor, arthritis, or reduced grip strength are largely excluded from capturing photo and video content. Existing stabilization tools assume able-bodied grip and dexterity, and existing assistive devices don't address creative self-expression, leaving a meaningful gap.
Main objectives
Design a passively-stabilized, ergonomic camera mount with mechanical tremor damping, a simplified single-button capture control, and a companion mobile app for footage review and editing, all attachable to an existing phone or action camera.
Scope of work
Literature review on tremor physiology and existing assistive/stabilization technology. Environmental scan of consumer alternatives. Tremor dynamics modelling to set damping targets. Prototyping the mount, grip housing, and control interface. Developing the companion app. Usability testing with the target population.
