You are welcome to attend Aleksander Cholewinski's PhD defence, in which he will discuss his research to develop and fabricate underwater adhesives that take inspiration from the adhesive chemistry and processes of both marine mussels and benthic algae.

You are welcome to attend Sungo Park's final PhD defense, in which he will discuss his research into developing a technology to characterize and process environmentally friendly materials using starch as co-polymer and nano-filler. The research aimed to extend the range of properties of starch materials while maintaining environmental benefits and competitive physical properties for applications such as packaging and agriculture.

The Department of Chemical Engineering and the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology invite you to hear Dr. Roberts discuss the development of electrochemical exfoliated graphene materials and heteroatom doped carbons, considering two electrochemical applications: vanadium redox flow batteries and adsorption combined with electrochemical regeneration for treatment of organic contaminants.  

Since the last fundraiser was so successful, EWB has partnered again with Krispy Kreme to have another fundraiser to raise money for social enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa to help reduce poverty.

Please join the Department of Chemical Engineering on Monday, June 17, for a seminar by Dr. Jeffrey S. Downey, Technical Manager Science and Innovation The Kingston Technology Centre and Managing Director of Innovation for DuPont Canada. 

Dr. Downey will discuss the merger of Dow Chemical and E.I. DuPont and the recent separation into three industry leading companies. In addition, he will discuss the opportunities that this has created in Canada and how the Kingston Technology Centre has become integral to the future of the new DuPont.

You are welcome to attend Noushin Majdabadifarahani's MASc oral exam, in which she will discuss her research evaluating polymeric materials as sensing materials for acetone, formaldehyde and benzene detection. 

You’re invited to join the Department of Chemical Engineering on Thursday, July 11, for a seminar by Dr. Drew Higgins, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at McMaster University. He will speak about his research on the development and understanding of electrocatalyst materials and electrode structures for sustainable electrochemical energy technologies.
