Please join the Department of Chemical Engineering on Monday, June 17, for a seminar by Dr. Jeffrey S. Downey, Technical Manager Science and Innovation The Kingston Technology Centre and Managing Director of Innovation for DuPont Canada. 

Dr. Downey will discuss the merger of Dow Chemical and E.I. DuPont and the recent separation into three industry leading companies. In addition, he will discuss the opportunities that this has created in Canada and how the Kingston Technology Centre has become integral to the future of the new DuPont. 

Biographical Sketch 

Jeffrey S. Downey, Ph.D. is Technical Manager Science and Innovation at the Kingston Technology Centre and Managing Director of Innovation for DuPont Canada. 

Dr. Downey completed a BSc in chemistry at the University of Waterloo in 1994 and a PhD in polymer chemistry, materials science at the Brockhouse Institute of Material Research, McMaster University prior to joining DuPont in 2000. He has developed a broad experience base through his contributions to various businesses at DuPont, including Packaging and Industrial Polymers, Protection Technologies and, more recently, in Biomaterials, Safety and Construction and Electronics and Imaging. In his current role, he leads a team of 20 research scientists and engineers that is making an impact on projects critical to the new DuPont.
