ABSTRACT: In this presentation, you will learn how to integrate manuscript preparation into your daily routine, how to efficiently prepare a clear and well-organized manuscript, how the review process works, how to expedite your manuscript’s review and acceptance, and about future trends and developments in scientific publishing. This presentation is intended for early-career chemical engineering professionals: graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, new faculty members and new industrial researchers. Anyone who is interested in publishing or reviewing papers in scientific journals is welcome.
Bio-sketch: João Soares is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB, Canada). He holds a Campus Alberta Innovates Program (CAIP) Chair in Interfacial Polymer Engineering for Oil Sands Processing, and a Canada Research Chair (Tier I) in Advanced Polymer Reaction Engineering. Professor Soares is the Editor-in-Chief for the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, and a member of the Executive Advisory Board of Wiley-VCH Macromolecular journals.
Professor Soares is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and a Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario and Alberta.
Research Interests: 1) polymerization reactor engineering for Ziegler-Natta, metallocene, late transition metal, free-radical and living free-radical polymerization, 2) water-soluble polymers for oil sands technology, 3) polymer microstructural characterization and fractionation, 4) mathematical modeling of polymerization reactors and polymer microstructure, and 5) polymer composites.
