Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a Microsoft Azure-based system for virtualizing Windows-based operating systems. It runs securely in the cloud, allowing access to software applications without installing them to the local machine.
Please note the following:
- This feature is currently available for Civil, Architectural, Environmental, and Geological Engineering undergraduate students only.
- The system reboots daily at 4:00 AM.
- Each session will be disconnected after 15 minutes or inactivity. There is a one-hour window to restore the previous session. After that, it will be terminated.
Potential users are encouraged to access AVD directly, or to review the UWaterloo Information Systems and Technology (IST) article regarding how to access Azure Virtual Desktop.
Further information can be found at IST's AVD frequently asked questions (FAQs) page, or by contacting CEE-IT.
