The Matthews collection

The Classical Studies department was very pleased recently to receive a substantial part of the extensive classical library of the late Professor Victor Matthews of the University of Guelph, through the kind donation of Mrs Irene Matthews. The Matthews collection, which is now housed in the lounge as a learning and research resource for our students, comprises over 1000 books and over 500 issues of classical journals. Mrs Matthews also donated a large number of volumes to the Dana Porter library. Shown here in front of some of the bookcases housing the Matthews collection are Profs Curchin and Faber with Mrs Matthews.
