This 3 month Archaeological Field School into the heart of Tuscany involves lectures on Renaissance Art, Roman Civilization, Archaeology and Social History, Anthropology and introductory courses in Italian and French.

A four week Study Tour consists of walking tours around important sites in Asia and Europe. Previous excursions have included Pompeii, Ostia, Finland, Sweden, Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Estonia and Japan all in English.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY Summer Mediterranean Archaeological Field School
Nature of Exchange
At the site of Torre d’en Galmès on the island of Menorca in Spain, students will take part in a six-week excavation campaign combined with lectures, museum and laboratory work. Students will excavate a structure built during the late Iron Age period, dating back to the third century BC.

Cost includes tuition, housing, board, field trips, and emergency travel assistance coverage.

COLGATE UNIVERSITY Material Culture of Rome & Pompeii

A number of courses offer short-term study components that extend the course beyond the campus and beyond the regular term. Extended study is particularly attractive for students whose schedules do not permit them to participate in semester-long study group programs. COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY Excavations at Amheida
Nature of Exchange
Columbia University's field program in Egypt constitutes a full semester studying an ancient society and using the results of archaeology. The first two months are spent in the Dakhleh Oasis at Columbia's facility there; the third month is spent partly traveling, partly based in Cairo.

UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM Erasmus Exchanges

The Erasmus Programme is a European-wide initiative, various programs may be chosen to take part in across a variety of countries.

All EU students studying/working abroad for one semester or one year through the Erasmus programme will be eligible for an Erasmus grant which is paid to the University of Nottingham from the British Council in the UK.

UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO Travel and Fieldwork Opportunities
Nature of Exchange
Classical Studies offers a special study-travel course, normally on a semi-annual basis (CLAS 390). In the Spring term students would visit a variety of Mediterranean sites, chiefly in Greece or Italy. The course carries academic credit and is conducted by one of the Departmental faculty members.

Third Year Abroad at the University of Waterloo
Nature of Exchange
The Department of French Studies especially encourages students in their third year to study in a French language environment. This may be done through the Waterloo/Trent/Toronto program at the University of Nantes in France, or through the MICEFA exchange at the University of Paris in France. The cost of the year in Nantes is currently similar to the cost of spending a year on campus at Waterloo. In the Paris program, students choose their courses from offerings at 12 universities scattered throughout Paris. Students can also study at the University of Québec in Chicoutimi, where they choose from regular course offerings.

Nature of Program
Found through the OSAP Program, Explore offers a five-week intensive language-learning course in the spring or summer for students interested in learning their second language. Participants in Explore receive a $2,000 bursary.
