Professor Tom Coleman and Wei Xu's book Automatic Differentiation in MATLAB using ADMAT with Applications has been published by SIAM.

On January 18, the Faculty of Mathematics launched its 50th Anniversary Launch Celebration. The event featured stories about the Faculty's first decade from a panel chaired by Professor Steve Brown.

Professor Michele Mosca was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal on his ongoing work to develop and deploy cryptographic technologies that resist attacks by large-scale quantum computers. Michele Mosca is a professor in the Department of Combinatorics & Optimization (C&O) and a co-founder of the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC).

Zhe Liu is a winner of the 2016 Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR).

Ten C&O students received their graduate degrees at the Fall 2016 convocation ceremony.

C&O Professor Michele Mosca is a co-organizer of the 4th ETSI/IQC workshop on quantum-safe cryptography, to be held in Toronto from September 19-21, 2016.

Professor Karen Yeats has been awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers. The fellowship provides funding for highly-qualified scientists and scholars to make extended research visits to Germany.

On September 5, Jon Yard joined the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization as an Associate Professor.
