About Majid
Majid Mirza is pursuing his PhD in Sustainability Management at the University of Waterloo with a focus on 'Private Capital Markets and Responsible Investment.' He is also the Founder of ESGTree, an enterprise software-as-a-service platform which helps large financial institutions streamline and automate their environmental, social, governance (ESG) reporting. Prior to the PhD and start-up, he had over 10 years of international development and impact investing experience and was a consultant to the Canadian Government on development finance. His experience also includes blended finance and working with the private sector, corporate foundations, family foundations, non-profit organizations and governments. Majid's international development work has covered value chain work, SME development, technical skills training and corporate social responsibility. It has taken him to 20 countries in Africa, Latin America, South and South East Asia and the Middle East. Majid is also a Founding Board Member of the Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development (CAFIID), which is one of Canada's largest industry associations for impact investing.
