Congratulations, Class of 2024!
We again want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of you as you stand on the threshold of a new chapter in your lives. Last Friday, we celebrated your hard work, dedication, and resilience that have brought you to this moment. You have not only earned your degrees but also equipped yourselves with the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in the world.
Your journey through the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Environment has prepared you to lead initiatives that promote sustainability, innovation and positive change. We are proud of what you have achieved and excited to see the incredible contributions you will make as you step into your future.
On October 25, 2024, the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment held a vibrant convocation ceremony to honor the graduating class of 2024. We celebrated 181 Faculty of Environment graduates—85 undergraduates, 85 master’s, and 10 PhD students. They gathered with their supporters and families to celebrate their hard work and dedication across diverse programs, including sustainability, urban planning, and environmental science.
A highlight of the ceremony was a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Jagdeep Singh Bachher, the University of Waterloo's 12th Chancellor and a triple alum of the institution. In his address, Dr. Bachher expressed gratitude to the parents in attendance for their support and vision in sending their children to the University of Waterloo.
"To all the parents here today, thank you for dreaming to send your children to the University of Waterloo," he said. "Wherever you are, never forget this institution. The education you've received in the classroom and through the co-op program, along with the values and experiences instilled in you, have the power to change lives."
As you embark on your professional journeys, we hope you carry with the skills and passion needed to foster a brighter future, embodying our institution and our faculty's commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
