Introducing a new collaboration between the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness and the University of Waterloo, aimed at exploring the science of happiness. This partnership, represented by Waterloo's Faculty of Environment, seeks to integrate happiness research with sustainability efforts. This initiative reflects a shared vision of fostering well-being and sustainability through scientific understanding.

The inaugural Hub for Sustainability Integration Conference, held on March 22, 2024, marked a significant collaboration between the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) and the Faculty of Environment.

The University of Waterloo's Knowledge Integration (KI) program, celebrating its 15th anniversary, emphasizes solving complex global challenges like climate change and cybersecurity through interdisciplinary collaboration. The program aligns with Waterloo's future vision of integrating different disciplines to address global issues. At the 15th-anniversary event, projects from the Knowledge Integration exhibition (KIX), based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, were showcased.

We are very excited to announce that applications are open for the new South Africa Field Course: Biodiversity, Climate Change and Social Justice (ENV 474)! This interdisciplinary field course integrates a range of science and policy perspectives and field-based interactions to understand South Africa’s Cape region as a dynamic and linked system of people and nature. Interested Faculty of Environment undergraduate students must apply by January 19, 2024 to be considered for the course. 

Offering an opportunity to come together for delicious treats and good company, Environment held its second annual food truck social on September 28 at the EV3 Green. We know networking can be hard, but as Adrianna Hern, Harry Cheung, Dr. Chris Fletcher, and Dr. Simon Courteney remind us, being in the Environment community makes it easier, and there are tips that can help.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Faculty of Environment held the 2023 ENV Moon Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival) in the courtyard of EV1. The Deans, professors and supporting staff within the faculty and related university units attended this event, warmly welcoming and sending their good wishes to our students. Many of the students and some staff shared their performances in the celebration, bringing the atmosphere to a crescendo.
