IQC IMPACT REPORT 2017
15 years of discovery and innovation
The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) was launched 15 years ago thanks to the pioneering vision and incredibly generous personal investment of Mike Lazaridis.
The BlackBerry creator understood that truly revolutionary technologies can only emerge when scientists are given the resources and intellectual freedom to pursue trailblazing research.
Since then, IQC has grown into a vibrant scientific community of almost 300 hundred researchers and made exciting contributions to the developing field of quantum information science and technology. And at just 15 years young, the best is yet to come.
THE DRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION
Our vision
Harnessing quantum mechanics will lead to transformational technologies that will benefit society and becomes a new engine of economic development in the 21st century.
Our mission
To develop and advance quantum information science and technology at the highest international level through the collaboration of computer scientists, engineers, mathematicians and physical scientists.
Our strategic objectives
- To establish Waterloo as a world-class centre for research in quantum technologies and their applications.
- To become a magnet for highly qualified personnel in the field of quantum information.
- To be a prime source of insight, analysis and commentary on quantum information.
