Entanglement Harvesting in Conformal Field Theory

Kelly Wurtz

In this talk, I’ll present recent work in which we study entanglement harvesting in general d-dimensional conformal field theories using pointlike Unruh–DeWitt detectors coupled to scalar primary operators. This framework extends standard harvesting protocols well beyond free fields to the far richer setting of interacting conformal theories in arbitrary spatial dimensions. We show that increasing the operator’s scaling dimension strongly suppresses both the harvested negativity and the mutual information, a direct consequence of the faster decay of CFT two-point correlations at higher dimensions. For holographic CFTs we demonstrate how the dual bulk effective field theory cleanly separates genuinely field-harvested entanglement from entanglement that is merely mediated by classical communication between the detectors.
