On Friday, March 20, 2026, we will be hosting the first IQC Youth Quantum Symposium. We will bring high-school students from the region to the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) for a day of quantum activities, including keynotes, experiments, and panels.
As part of the day, we welcome applications from students and post-docs to present a 12-minute presentation on a quantum topic of their choosing. This could be your research, but the criteria are flexible.
Is there a tool you use in your work that could excite students? Is there a misconception young students might have that you’d like to give some context for? Is there an open problem that you wish more people knew about?
We will accept up to eight presentations for the day. At the end of the presentations, a Student's Choice and Judge's Choice prize of a $100 gift card will be awarded. All presenters will receive an IQC t-shirt.
Please fill out the form below if you are interested. This opportunity is aimed primarily at graduate students and post-docs at the University of Waterloo, but we will consider submissions from undergraduate students as well. We are happy to provide support and feedback to develop your presentation. Any questions may be directed to John at jdonohue@uwaterloo.ca.
