Exploring Quantum Valley

Monday, April 29, 2013

A three-part series by The Record explores how quantum physics is turning Waterloo into a global hub of cutting-edge technology.

Professor Vadim Makarov
The series starts with the "Quest for Quantum Valley" describing the vision and people involved in building the foundation for the largest theoretical physics institute, Perimeter Institute, and a state-of-the-art quantum information research institute at the University of Waterloo where leading researchers not only explore quantum theory, but also experiment and fabricate quantum devices.

"Peering into the quantum universe" takes us into the research at the Institute for Quantum Computing. Greg Mercer describes the sensitive work carried out by researchers including David Cory, Thomas Jennewein, Kevin Resch and Vadim Makarov (pictured).
