Nine IQC doctoral students receive scholarship recognizing research excellence
Nine doctoral students at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) have received the federal government’s Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (CGRS) which recognizes and supports the next generation of outstanding research trainees.
The CGRS is a scholarship in the Canada Research Training Awards Suite (CRTAS), and the IQC students’ award is administered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The award for doctoral students is valued at $40,000 per year for three years.
The IQC student recipients represent five home departments across Faculties of Engineering, Science and Mathematics at the University of Waterloo.
| Jiayue Yang | Department of Applied Mathematics |
| Benjamin Wong | Department of Combinatorics and Optimization |
| Andres Schang | Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering |
| Boris Ragula | Department of Applied Mathematics |
| Henri Phillippe Norbert Morin | Department of Physics and Astronomy |
| Ireneo James Membrere | Department of Applied Mathematics |
| Oscar Lautsch | Department of Pure Mathematics |
| Angéline Lafleur | Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering |
| Noah Gorgichuk | Department of Physics and Astronomy |

“IQC is continually impressed by our students' accomplishments. This recognition is well-deserved and reflects their contributions to shaping the future of quantum science technology. We wish them continued success in their studies.”
