Every year since 2012, the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) has brought together some of the brightest young researchers in quantum information science for the week-long Quantum Innovators (QI).

QI is IQC’s signature scientific event and a platform for young researchers to showcase their work, connect with peers, and join the IQC community. This year IQC welcomed researchers from quantum institutes at universities around the world including Harvard University, University of Calgary, California Institute of Technology, and Cambridge University.

IQC faculty Drs. William Slofstra, David Gosset, Graeme Smith, Luke Schaeffer, and Michal Bajcsy were on this year’s program committee.

“Welcoming the next generation of quantum information research leaders is the scientific highlight of IQC. Once again this year, we were pleased to host our guests from quantum institutes across Canada and around the world — the rising stars in theoretical and experimental quantum information research. Hearing their voices indicating where research in quantum information is going and exposing them to the flourishing quantum ecosystem at IQC, in Waterloo, and in Canada overall, is one of the many contributions that IQC provides to the Canadian quantum ecosystem.”
- Dr. Norbert Lütkenhaus, executive director of IQC and professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy
