Student-led conference fosters collaboration among early-career researchers
This week, Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) students gathered for an IQC Student Summer Conference, a student-led event designed to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking among early-career quantum researchers.

It can also be a source of inspiration for people because sometimes you see and hear about people's ideas and that will be insightful to come up with ideas that can guide you through your own research.”

Rafati was on the organizing committee with IQC graduate students Alec Gow, Devin Blankespoor, Jiayue Yang, Jingwen Zhu, Maria Rosa Preciado Rivas, Vyom Patel and Ziyuan Yang.

Graduate students presented latest research in quantum information

While IQC is a research institute primarily focused on graduate-level and postdoctoral work, it also offers some undergraduate opportunities.
Ibu Adeleke, a summer student at IQC who completed the Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum Information Processing (USEQIP) program, says beyond the IQC Student Summer Conference, there have been many opportunities to learn about the latest developments in quantum information research.
“There are lots of talks where you can learn about different fields of research and the graduate students and professors are nice and lots of people to approach and ask questions.”

Un congrès étudiant pour stimuler la collaboration chez les chercheurs en début de carrière

Cette semaine, les étudiants de l’Institut d’informatique quantique (IQC) se sont réunis pour un congrès étudiant d’été, un événement dirigé par les étudiants et conçu pour stimuler la collaboration, l’échange de connaissances et le réseautage entre chercheurs de la quantique en début de carrière.
« Pour moi, c’est plus qu’un simple congrès : c’est un moyen de privilégier le réseautage et la mise en commun de connaissance. L’événement peut aussi être une source d’inspiration, car on y entend et voit une foule d’idées intéressantes pour orienter ou alimenter nos propres travaux. »

Parinaz Rafati faisait partie du comité d’organisation avec d’autres camarades d’études aux cycles supérieurs à l’IQC : Alec Gow, Devin Blankespoor, Jiayue Yang, Jingwen Zhu, Maria Rosa Preciado Rivas, Vyom Patel et Ziyuan Yang.
Bien que l’Institut se concentre principalement sur la recherche aux cycles supérieurs et au postdoctorat, l’établissement offre aussi quelques possibilités au premier cycle.
Pour Ibu Adeleke, qui a étudié à l’IQC le temps d’un été dans le cadre de l’École de premier cycle sur le traitement quantique expérimental de l’information (USEQIP), le congrès étudiant estival est une occasion d’en savoir plus sur les dernières avancées de la recherche quantique.
« On entend parler d’une foule de disciplines dans les conférences, et les étudiants et professeurs sont géniaux. Il y a des tas de gens à qui parler et poser des questions. »
