Each August, 44 students attend the Quantum School for Young Students (QSYS), previously known as the Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS) at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC). Many high school mathematics curricula around the world do not teach some of the mathematics necessary to help students understand quantum mechanics and cryptography. The Mathematics of Quantum Mechanics, written by IQC alum and former Scientific Outreach Manager Martin Laforest, eases students into the mathematics of quantum mechanics – complex numbers, linear algebra and how they are used to describe quantum phenomena. The mathematical approach described in this book is very well suited for quantum information and quantum cryptography.
Although the book is written for QSYS (QCSYS) participants, it is well suited for anyone with basic mathematical knowledge interested in learning about the mathematics of quantum mechanics.
To download The Mathematics of Quantum Mechanics, please complete and submit the form. You will then be sent an email with a link to the download.
You will also be added to our QSYS (QCSYS) mailing list so that you will receive an email to let you know when registration is open, and a reminder to apply before the deadline.
